The D-Link DHP-500AV is a powerline network adapter that brings up to 500Mbps speed to your home network. It uses existing electrical outlets and powerlines within the house as network wiring and ports.

The DHP-500AV supports AES encrytion for security as well as simple plug and play setup. It is backward compatible with older generation Homeplug AV certified products. Whilst the theoretical 500Mbps network speeds sounds ideal, the actual speed is dependent on your home's wiring quality. That said powerline adapters are a good option for buyers looking to extent their home network to parts of a building where the wireless signal might not be ideal.
