D-Link DWA-140
$65.00
Released May, 2007
The Pros:Sturdy construction, build from good quality plastics. Strong compatibility with Windows, this includes 64-bit operating systems. Works best with D-Link routers, but users should also be aware of possible D-Link router firmware issues.
The Cons:Poor Mac and Linux compatibility, poor driver support. Range is subpar contrary to the "range booster" advertisement, does not actually offer any improvements over standard laptop wifi adapters. Reliability issues, user reports failure after a short while (months).
The D-Link DWA-140 is a Wireless RangeBooster N USB adapter that works with Windows desktops and laptops. It builds from the DWA-130 by providing a greater transmission range. Otherwise, it is a near duplicate, and also capable of transmitting at full Draft N speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Keep in mind though that your router needs to be properly configured; many users complain that they are unable to go beyond 130Mbps, but this is oftentimes due to an improperly configured access point. Note also that the DWA-140 only works with Windows operating systems, and is supposedly incompatible with 64-bit Vista.
