For buyers turned off of the expense of installing Ethernet lines throughout the house, Linksys has marketed a cheaper alternative in the form of the Linksys PLE200, an Adapter cord that can convert existing power lines into high-speed network connections through Powerline technology.

Any Ethernet-equipped devices (including computers, TiVos, and digital media adapters) plugged into a power source through a PLE200 then becomes part of the LAN network, able to connect at a speed of 100 mb/s with 128-bit security encryption and transfer and share photos, videos, documents or any other type of data. When paired with a router, internet also becomes a shared resource. Included with the Adapter is a CD with a step-by-step installation guide, a 1 year warranty and free technical support from Linksys.
