A minimum of two adapters creates a LAN network with a speed of 100 mbps and 128-bit AES security encryption, enabling multiple devices (such as computers, TiVos, or digital media adapters) to share HD videos, documents, networked games, or printers. When a router is added to the network, internet also becomes a shared resource. Additional adapters can be added to a maximum of 256, but for most small home or office networks, one adapter per device will add up to a smaller cost than installing a network of Ethernet lines.
