The Motorola SB6120 SURFboard extreme is a DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme cable modem released through Fry’s Electronics in mid 2009. It is four times faster than the DOCSIS 2.0 standard and over 2000 times faster than a 56K analog phone mode.

It also supports high-bandwidth Internet services, as well as gaming, streaming video, and multimedia downloads. It is, however, backwards compatible with DOCSIS 1.x/2.0. Included also is downstream channel bonding, support for IPv4/IPv6, and advanced encryption services.
