Netgear ProSafe GS108

$80.00 Released September, 2002

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Physically built very solid, can even take some hits without any signs of wear. Basic installation is as simple as plugging everything in. All ports automatically detect connection speed, uplink/downlink - don't have to worry about which port is for what, don't need crossover cables.

The Cons:There are some units in the series that were shipped out faulty, will need to be returned to Netgear for a replacement within the first year and a half or so.

The Netgear ProSafe GS108 is an 8-port Gigabit switch featuring a 60% lower power consumption rate, courtesy of Netgear Green technology. It’s essentially a larger version of the 5-port GS105. Like its peer, the GS108 utilizes an auto-switching Ethernet connection to seamlessly integrate 10BASE-T Ethernet, 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet, and 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet devices without sacrificing performance.
