Like its peers of the same Powerline technology (ex. the Linksys PLE200 or PLE300), the Netgear XAV101 is marketed to offer consumers an alternative to the installation of new Ethernet lines for the sake of a home network--instead, how about converting the existing powerlines into high speed connections? With that concept in mind, the XAV101 is designed to connect between a power outlet and an Ethernet-equipped device, and whether it's a PC, TV, or game console, it then becomes part of the network, capable of sharing HD videos, games, photos, documents and internet over a 200 mbps connection.
