By plugging in and connecting one adapter to an internet router, and plugging in and connecting the second adapter to any Ethernet-enabled device via the Gigabit Ethernet port, the existing electrical lines of a house are used to create a high-speed Ethernet network. Any device on the network is capable of sharing internet, storage, documents, games, and even streaming HD video at a speed of 500 mbps. A Push-and-Secure feature enables network security with the push of a button, while a Pick-A-Plug display automatically tests connections to ensure high performance. The one advantage of the XAVB5501 over the XAVB5001, however, is the filtered pass-through power outlet on the front that replaces the outlets the adapter may obstruct while it's plugged in. Besides the two adapters, the kit includes two Ethernet cables, a setup CD and a 1 year warranty.
