Features include Layer 2 software management, allowing for network administrators to perform IGMP snooping with query mode and broadcast storm filtering. Administrators can also manage individual ports by status, or implement link aggregation (“trunking”) for flexible load distribution or fail-safe redundancy purposes. These features are especially useful for optimizing multimedia applications such as online video streaming. The TEG-S081FMi can be configured via RS-232 console port, telnet, and any HTTP web browser. The device’s firmware can upgraded with a standard web browser, similar to many consumer level networking products.
